Henna review

I've been wanting to dye my hair for quite some time. The problem with this is that dye isn't really safe for baby... thats ok though, henna is a safe dye!

I did a TON of research before jumping into henna. After reading blogs and watching youtube videos for days I finally decided to take the plunge. I decided to go with Lush's Caca Rouge. I chose this specific dye because we have a Lush locally so I could get the dye fast and I tend to lean toward redder hues.

There were pros and cons to this whole process.

PROS

Great for pregnant ladies
Subtle color change
Organic
Didn't stain skin badly

CONS

Slightly more expensive than box dye
Very little change
Extremely messy
Hard to get out
Hard to apply

As you can see I had more cons than pros. Overall I wasn't very impressed. I did the plastic wrap on my head and the color didn't redden much at all. It's really blotchy which is probably my fault. the dye seemed to thicken as it cooled and was extremely hard to apply. I enlisted my husband at first and it wasn't going well so I took over. My floor was covered in chunks of henna. It was extremely messy and thick. My hair was a huge knot when I was done and I ended up having to condition it three times and shampoo it twice. My hair felt amazing after it was all out. I'm not sure if this is because of the henna or the conditioning.

I really don't recommend Caca Rouge for anyone that has even fairly dark hair. I might try the process again down the road with a darker henna or maybe even a different brand. I'm a little sad with my results but it didn't turn my hair crazy colors (huge plus there). If anyone else has tried henna or plans to I'd love to hear about your experience.
